Narrated history of the Dewey Perkins Home
The Dewey Perkins Home is associated with Brigham Dewey Perkins, a member of the prominent Perkins pioneer family of Taylor. The Perkins family was deeply rooted in Taylor’s founding generation. Jesse Nelson Perkins moved his family to Walker (now Taylor), Arizona, arriving on January 8, 1879.
Brigham Young Perkins (1850–1937), son of Jesse, was a Mormon pioneer, missionary, and farmer who kept a biography and journal documenting life in Taylor. Dewey Perkins carried on the family’s legacy in the community, and the home stands as a testament to the Perkins family’s enduring presence in Taylor.
